Some of our popular

We have put together answers to the frequently asked questions so you’re sure to be able to find some information you were looking for right here:

How long does a PAT testing certificate last?

PAT testing is required by businesses and landlords to assure the safety of electrical appliances. The Health & Safety Executive doesn’t specify the frequency, only that regular maintenance is carried out. Some equipment carries a higher risk than others. Our certificates range from three months to a year, depending on the risk.

How often should pat testing be carried out

There are no set timeframes on how often you should PAT test. The frequency will depend on the use and risk of injury. Ideally, it should run alongside your overall risk assessment. Most businesses will opt to test their appliances once a year, higher risk appliances such as hand held, every three months.

How often is pat testing required for landlords

Private landlords that have a House in Multiple Occupation (HMO) are required to inspect their electricals every five years. It’s, not the case for other properties. However, you are responsible for any electrical appliances that you provide to your tenants. It’s good practice to carry out a pat test between tenants or every two years.

How long does pat testing take

Each test can last between 2 – 5 minutes. Typical delays are locating the appliance, access; the equipment still in use.

What does PAT Testing mean
